What happens to my zone shipping rates if the Shipping Zone plugin expires?
My rates are all set up in zones. I want to know the risk if my renewal is late.

Your zones, regions and methods are kept, but zone rates stop being used for new orders. Customers are charged your fallback shipping from Settings → Store Settings → Shipping Setup instead: your flat or per-product charge, with free shipping above your minimum if it's switched on.
So it's worth keeping a sensible charge in Shipping Setup even if you rely on zones, and clicking Save Changes there.
Once the plugin is active again, checkout shows the zone methods and uses their rates again. Nothing needs to be rebuilt.
