What this site stores

  • Your profile — the email address and display name from your Wcart account, plus your reputation here.
  • What you post — questions (with their categories and tags), answers, edits, votes and reports, with timestamps.
  • Notifications — the in-app notifications shown under the bell (for example “new answer on your question”) and whether you have read them. We do not email them.
  • Sign-up — while you verify your email we hold your name, email and a one-way hash of your password and code for up to 15 minutes. Your password itself is held by Wcart’s identity service, never by this site.
  • Session cookies — two httpOnly cookies that keep you signed in. If you arrive already signed in to the Wcart admin, its sign-in cookie is accepted too. No advertising or tracking cookies.

What is public

Your display name, reputation, and everything you post are public. Your email address is never shown to other members; moderators can see it to act on reports.

Wcart Team members

Posts by Wcart staff and community moderators are shown publicly as Wcart Team, without the person’s name or photo. Inside the moderation area, platform administrators can see which team member wrote what and a summary of their activity, including an export of that summary.

Moderation records

To run the community we keep records that only moderators and administrators can see: reports and how they were resolved, which team member a question is assigned to, internal notes the team adds to a question, and a log of moderation actions (such as hiding a post, closing a thread, editing a post or suspending an account) with who did it and when.

Short-lived technical data

Your IP address is used in memory to rate-limit requests and is not stored with your posts. Spam checks look at what you post, such as how quickly a form was sent; the timing itself is not stored.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your own posts (a question can be deleted until it has answers), and mark notifications as read. To have your profile removed, contact Wcart support from your account.
