I want to be sure customers land back on their cart and not on an empty page.

The link takes the shopper to your cart page with their saved items already back in the cart, so they can go straight to checkout. The cart is then marked Recovered in your list, and Completed if they place the order. The link only works for a limited time. You set it in Abandoned Carts → Settings with Recovery link valid for (hours). The default is 168 (7 days). After that the cart is Closed and no more reminders go out. Click Save settings after changing it.
