How do I set up tax on my products?

I need to charge tax at checkout. Where do I configure it, and can I have different rates for different regions?

Tax is set up under Settings → Store Settings → Manage Tax. 1. Click Tax Settings and tick Enable tax on this store. Without this, no tax is charged at cart or checkout. 2. In the same window, set the Default Tax Label (for example "GST" or "VAT"), and choose whether your product prices already include tax and whether to charge tax on shipping. 3. Add tax rates. A rate can apply to a country, state, city or postal code; use as a wildcard. At checkout every rate that matches the customer's address is applied and added together, so a store-wide rate plus a state rate means both are charged. If you want one rate for most places and a different one for a region, add the regional rates separately rather than on top of a store-wide rate. Check the total on a test order before going live.
