Do customers get updates automatically when I ship their order?
I don't want to message every customer by hand.

Yes, with the Push Notifications plugin. When you change an order's status to Shipped, Delivered or Ready for Pickup with the status control, customers with an account who have allowed notifications get an alert automatically. Marking an order shipped from the Fulfilment panel does not send it.
The WhatsApp Notification plugin can also send order messages; see the WhatsApp thread for setting it up.
