Can I add my own fields to the product form, like Material or Warranty?

Yes. Use Products → Additional Fields (the Product Additional Fields plugin). Create the fields once, such as Material and Warranty, then fill them in on each product's Additional Fields tab (save the product first; the tab appears at the top of a saved product). They are shown on the storefront product page.
